Bring the curriculum to life with a visit to The King's Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse. We offer a range of interactive workshops, tours, learning activities and resources for nursery, primary and secondary pupils. Our school visit information will help teachers and organisers plan their visit.
The King's Gallery is accessible. Concessionary rates are available if you have a disability and we offer a free access companion ticket which can be booked online.
Accessible toilets are located in the Café at the Palace, which can be visited without a ticket. There is limited bench seating around the Gallery.
Registered assistance dogs are welcome.
A number of Wardens are Dementia Friends, please ask staff for any assistance.
The Gallery comprises an entry staircase/lift on the ground floor and an open-plan exhibition space on the first floor. You may wish to download a photo journey (PDF) to help you plan your visit.

Your ticket includes a multimedia guide.
- You can visit The King's Gallery at your leisure using the complimentary multimedia guide, which lasts approximately 1 hour.
- On arrival your belongings will be subject to a bag check.
- You can take photographs in the Gallery. Read about photography, filming & mobile phones.
- There is a café on the premises serving food and drinks, however eating and drinking are not permitted inside the Gallery.
- Toilets and baby-care facilities are located in the Café at the Palace.
- Pushchairs can be taken inside the Gallery, except during busy periods. Read more about visiting with children.
The King's Gallery is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays except during July, August and September when we are open 7 days a week.
