The warm and welcoming Learning Centre can be found just inside the perimeter walls of The Castle. The Centre is open for families during UK school holidays. The Centre is a great base for families to use during their visit.

  • A changing programme of free activities for children and families to enjoy including crafts, storytelling and 'make and takes'.
  • Families can picnic within the yard itself or, if the weather is inclement, in the indoor lunch hall. No need to change your plans if the weather changes!
  • The Learning Centre is breastfeeding friendly, and has a designated family bathroom with changing table.
  • Toddlers can take time in the Chill Out Zone, with train set, Duplo, books and lots of beanbags. Take time and reconnect.
  • A Caught Short Box for families - a spares box with nappies, wipes, cutlery and clothes etc in case you’re 'caught short' during your visit.

  1. Walk around the Castle defences - The Castle walls have lots of evidence of Windsor's role as an important royal fortress long ago. Look for battlements, towers, arrow loops and murder holes!
  2. Changing the Guard - Watch the colourful pomp and ceremony of this British tradition. Thursdays and Saturdays.
  3. The State Apartments - These magnificent rooms are used by the monarch and members of the Royal Family to entertain guests. Don't miss the King's Dining Room with paintings of fish, lobster and birds on the ceiling, St George's Hall where splendid banquets are held, and the Grand Reception Room decorated with real gold.
  4. St George's Chapel - Where 11 kings and queens are buried including Henry VIII, Charles I and Queen Elizabeth II
