Wheelchairs
Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge for the duration of a visit. They must be pre-booked by contacting the Specialist Sales team on +44 (0)303 123 7324 or [email protected]. Mobility scooters can be used in the gardens, and are permitted inside Clarence House providing they are compatible with the lift – a platform stair lift measuring 130cm in depth by 80cm in width, with a weight limit of 250kg provides access into the House.
Access
There are three steps at the entrance to the house. The remainder of the visitor route has level access.
Lifts
A platform stair-lift provides step-free access into the building. The lift measures 130cm in depth by 80cm in width.
Flooring and surfaces
There are gravel paths at the entrance and the temporary structure in the garden has decking flooring.
The inside of the building is fully carpeted. As Clarence House is an historic building, the floors may be uneven so please take care.
Respite seating
There are benches at the entrance but there is no seating inside the house. You are welcome to use walking sticks or folding stools with seat attachments, provided that they have rubber stoppers.
Assistance animals
Assistance animals are welcome and water is available on request.
Shops
The shop is located at the end of the visit. There is a slight ramp at the entrance and the flooring is carpet.
Toilets
There are no toilets at Clarence House. The nearest accessible toilets are in St James's Park, opposite the entrance to Clarence House. There is a charge to use the public toilets, however the accessible toilets and baby care facilities remain free of charge and can be accessed using a radar key provided by the attendant.
Parking and transport
Parking for Blue Badge holders is available but must be pre-booked by contacting the Specialist Sales team. If all parking spaces are full, meter parking, pay and display parking, pay-by-phone parking and disabled parking for blue badge holders are all available on Waterloo Place, just off Pall Mall.
There are no buses which run directly past Clarence House. The following buses serve nearby Regent Street and are accessible for wheelchair users: 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 15, 23, 88, 94, 139, 159, 453.
