Discovery details and facts about past Coronations as we look to the Coronation of King Charles III in 2023 and the role of the Royal Mews plays within the celebrations.

Session Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the historical and cultural significance of the Coronation procession and ceremony
  • Experience key events involved in the Coronation ceremony
  • Discover the role the Royal Mews staff and horses played in past Coronations

In this session children will:

  • Tour the coaches and stables at the Mews and discover the carriages used in the Coronation procession 
  • Handle related objects and explore archival materials highlighting the many people, heads of state and Royalty from across the world all involved in the magnificent event.
  • Role play the Coronation ceremony through dressing up and related props. 

The children loved seeing the carriages.
